Here’s a video of the launch of the South Africa’s Tourism Satellite Account. This is meant as a tool for the tourism industry to use in its planning – and also as a tool to convince the powers that they should support tourism in a big way. But it is based on four-year-old figures.

Bit of a  larf, really – as one journalist said: most of our biggest tourism businesses issue annual reports – so why do we have to work with figures from 2005? (The Stats SA dude knew beforehand he was going to get this question and tried hard to justify the situation during his speach, saying the difference between 2005 and today is marginal. Hel-lo, buddy- there’s a recession on.).

If you have to watch the unexpurgated speach, here it is. In two installments. Good luck…
