Looking very much forward to the world cup next year but I wish I could inform my client (3 groups of 30 corporates) properly about the domestic flights and the transport from and to the airports - stadiums. Has anybody any idea if airlines will be operating 24 hours? That would be FANTASTIC and much needed. So let's hope for the best.

2010 are we ready? We have a guest house in Jhb and serviced 5 star apartments in Cape Town (not contracted to Match)so being in the hospitality industry, we also were pleased to be involved in a HOME STAY programme set up for the World Cup. I cannot see people moving out of their homes and not having someone closely manage the property, so the homestay programme is ideal - and a worthwhile exercise to get income for homeowners. This is through www.wcsbig5.com who have set up a data base, all the necessary trust accounts and a comprehensive programme. Home owners are asked to give a dinner, bed and breakfast service to visitors coming to SA and in return, earn R750 per person per night. They MUST be at home to host their guests and give them a taste of SA life. We've just really battled to get people to do this, which amazes me as I have always thought of South Africans as hospitable people who would love to welcome overseas visitors. Anyone interested ? (Can they contact me Martin?) We'd like to get homeowners preferably in Jhb's northern suburbs as we have to do preliminary quality checks, take photographs and get homeowners to complete forms. They are then credit-checked and cleared. Once they have people allocated to them, they have to take out insurance (special deal rates with high public liability cover) and they get a final quality check through SGS.

2010 are we ready? - called Seeff twice in Pretoria, some months back to list my home, which is close to Loftus. I decided to use Seeff as I expected they would be credible in the letting market and afford me suitable protection. After receiving a cursory email acknowledgement there has been no follow through. Who can advise suitable agents managing 2010 lets?

I applied to the Jhb. City Council more than a year ago for my property to be rezoned as a guesthouse offering 7 rooms with bathrooms ensuite. To date the application has not been finalized. Is this an indication of the City's commitment to the 2010 World Cup ?

I attended the 8th Annual Tourism Conference recently and am concerned that none of the restaurant chains , Petroleum companies , security companies etc were invited.
If we are going to deliver service excellence in 2010 everyone should be part of the conversation when it comes to service.
I do not enjoy good service in this country , but when I do get it I tip very generously.
South Africans must learn to demand good service and reward it appropriatly
